Willapa Valley volleyball (6-2, 4-0 1B Columbia Valley League) remains atop the 1B Columbia Valley League after continuing their five-match winning streak, notching sweeps over Firm Foundation Christian and Three Rivers Christian last week. The Vikings will put their winning streak on the line in upcoming matches against Naselle and Columbia Adventist Academy.

Naselle volleyball

The Naselle volleyball team (2-3) was swept in straight sets last week by Mossyrock (2-2) and Columbia Adventist Academy (3-3). The Comets slipped to fifth place in the 1B Columbia Valley League with the losses, with undefeated Willapa Valley sitting atop the standings. After netting their first win of the season last week against Astoria, the Ilwaco girls soccer squad (1-5) fell to Hoquiam 5-0 last Tuesday and Onalaska 9-1 on Monday. The Lady Fishermen will seek to rebound on the road against Ocosta (3-3) on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Raymond/South Bend football

The Ravens (3-1) won their third straight game in a 62-36 shootout victory over Adna (1-3). Since a season-opening loss to undefeated Toledo, the Ravens have notched convincing wins over Wahkiakum (62-29), Ilwaco (41-14) and Adna (62-36), but will have one of their toughest tests of the season when Forks (4-0) comes to visit next Friday, Sept. 29 in Raymond.

Pe Ell/Willapa Valley football

The Pe Ell/Willapa Valley football team was consistent through their first three football games, holding their opponents to under 20 points while notching wins over Mossyrock (26-8), Adna (22-20) and Wahkiakum (46-12), but that all came unraveled in a 60-14 pummeling by the Napavine Tigers (4-0) last Friday. The Tigers, a preseason favorite to repeat as 2B state champs, have outscored their first four opponents by a 207-34 margin. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley (3-1) will next host Morton/White Pass (1-3) Friday, Sept. 29.
