Letter: Short-timers need lessons in courtesy

I own a second home in Long Beach and have been frustrated by short-term renters who do not follow the rules of their rental. This affects the enjoyment of my stay in Long Beach when I have to be inconvenienced by renters parking where they are not supposed to, overwhelming our garbage totes with all of their recyclables and worse, not bagging their garbage resulting in a stinky tote.

In addition, noise is created in a once-quiet neighborhood by those that arrive late slamming car doors as they take their luggage out of the car or get up early to leave and talk in loud voices. One time, I was awakened at midnight by a renter chopping wood in the parking lot.

It would be nice if renters would realize that they are renting a home where other homeowners live. I don’t want to go to the beach and have to call the owners complaining of their renters. It ends up ruining my beach trip where I go to relax. It would be nice if renters would consider their surroundings and be considerate of the homeowners who are trying to enjoy their home.
