Checkers

If you are looking for a calm, affectionate kitty with a laid-back attitude, Checkers might be your boy! Checkers came to us as a stray, and this resilient two and a half year old tabby is definitely on the lookout for his forever home.

Checkers is in the free range playroom with other cats and kittens, and the rambunctious kittens in there don’t seem to bother him a bit! He has won over our Cat Cuddlers — they just can’t get enough of his relaxed, friendly attitude. We think he would be an ideal family cat, and would do well with respectful children who would play with him. We are not sure how he would do with dogs, but if he is true to form, he would adapt and do just fine!

If you are ready to add some charm and affection to your life, Checkers might just be your perfect match. As Pet of the Week, Checkers adoption fee has been halved to just $25, and he is more than ready to go! To submit an application for Checkers or any of the shelter pets, visit our website beachpets.com and follow the instructions under the “Adopt” section.

We need your help!

The South Pacific County Humane Society is a community supported, volunteer driven 501©3 organization that is dedicated to recruiting people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to fill our leadership roles. These roles are on the board of directors, advisory council, and in directing volunteer teams and fundraising events and projects.

These leadership roles are an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who are invested in animal welfare and wish to become part of a solid charitable organization that has been a vital part of the community for several decades.

To view more comprehensive information concerning available leadership roles, visit our website beachpets.com and go to the “Volunteer” for more details.

Kitten Palooza starts next week!

We have an amazing selection of adorable kittens at the shelter right now! To help them find their forever homes, we are having a Kitten Palooza adoption event starting Tuesday Sept. 12, and running through Tuesday, Sept. 26. For this event, the adoption fees for kittens six months and younger are being halved to just $50! Don’t be tempted by “Free Kittens” ads, because generally, these kittens haven’t been vetted — they aren’t spayed or neutered, don’t have shots, aren’t chipped. and have not been treated for fleas or worms. But, when you adopt a kitten from us, they come fully vetted with all these veterinary services, which cost hundreds of dollars in the private sector!

To view our available kittens, visit our website beachpets.com and if you see a kitten you fancy, submit an application to us electronically. If you aren’t sure which kitten most interests you, just put “View” in the section calling for a name, and we will make arrangements for you to come and visit all the kittens!

We need kitten chow

Speaking of kittens, we are running very low on dry food for the little ones. We usually feed our kittens Purina Kitten Chow because it is reasonably priced, available in markets, and the kittens seem to thrive on it. Donations of kitten chow can be dropped by the shelter, or sent to us at 330 2nd ST. NE, Long Beach, WA. We thank you and the kittens thank you!

We are open 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by appointment only for adoptions and surrenders. Stray drop-off, spay/neuter vouchers and pet food program are available during open hours.

View our available cats and dogs and submit an online application at our website beachpets.com. An approved adoption application is required before scheduling a meet and greet with your selected animal.
