“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you,” President Lyndon B. Johnson observed.

Nowadays, if you can convince the lowest MAGA Republican that their better then the best Democrat, they won’t care when you cut their Social Security, healthcare and lower the quality of their kids education — all to pay for billionaire tax cuts.

Hell, if you give a MAGA Republican somebody to hate, they’ll even vote for a twice-impeached president, a criminally indicted fraudster, a sexual predator, a would-be autocrat and a traitor.

First, you keep them confused with right wing-cable news and fake Christian dogma. Then you convince them to hate Democrats, immigrants, gay and transgender people, the deep state, and the FBI. And once they’re confused and distracted, you rob them blind.
