I am part of the group, Better Beaches and Byways, who have been working tirelessly to protect our peninsula. I have sat in on meetings via Zoom and yesterday’s was no exception. I am always appalled at what I hear coming from those whom we call “leaders.”
I don’t see any of you as being leaders. Leaders stand up and do what is right. They don’t let constituents with money make the calls. They listen to the majority and make the best decision for all involved.
According to the numbers from the advisory vote, the majority want a ban. They want public safety enacted. You need to take a stance in that regard and get this done.

I feel like we were all played by the recent “advisory” vote, like someone was trying to appease us and get us to shut up. Well, we won’t! Ban the Boom, it’s not over!
I’d like to add that much of my concern is for wildlife, especially the endangered snowy plover, that lives, breeds, nests on our peninsula, all of this right in the heart of the destruction zone. While Ban the Boom won’t affect the beach, it could be a start to saving a species! Let’s be known for that!
I urge you to put your heart into this, think it through from all sides and make the right decision.
