YAKIMA — Landon Nielsen carried the colors of Wahkiakum High School at the WIAA 2B state championships.

He was the lone representative from his school at the track meet at Eisenhower High School in Yakima.

The senior placed seventh in the high jump.

He cleared 5-10 en route to his medal. The winning jumper, from Toledo, cleared 6-3.

He placed ninth, one step off the podium, in shot put.

He threw 43-5.5. The winner threw 50-6.5.

Among his competitors was Raymond’s Austin Snodgrass, who placed fourth with 45-8.75.
