Junior Jacob Mathison set a PR of 2:08.34 while placing fourth in the 800m. Ironically, he was the lone Ilwaco runner to qualify for the state 2B cross country meet in the fall, finishing in the middle of a crowded field.
The personal records set by Cunningham and Mathison in their 800-meter races pleased coach Crystal Bell. “Our 4x400m boys relay team fought super hard, too, giving lots of hope for next season,” she said.
The relay team placed seventh, just missing out on qualifying. On the squad were Mathison, sophomores Sammy Lloyd and Wade Smith, and freshman Cody Miller.

In team scoring at the meet, Toledo was the runaway overall points winner for the boys ahead of Rainier and Napavine with Raymond fourth. The Seagull girls tied for second with Toutle Lake, with North Beach narrowly ahead.
