Letter: She’s a hard no for mandating voting

Please do not make voting mandatory in our state or country. Where would the government stop? Registered to vote? Open your ballot to check that you actually marked the vote? Oh, and who and what you voted would then be right there for that person to see on our private, secret ballots.

Yes, however, I do want voting information: Registering where? Voting where? Date? Times? Make that voting accessible to all is safe, clean, well-lit. I do not want to vote by mail except for those unable to come to the polls — aren’t of the area, too disabled to travel, etc.
Mandatory voting may, in some cases, give us unread votes, careless, with no information available about what is being voted on.
The wording “behavior modification” sends chills up my back. By the government? How much more money would it take to uphold this law? If it is not to be upheld, why make another law? I have worked on the election board and voted. Voting for 58 years.
