Washington House Bill 1670 would allow cities, counties and other taxing districts to triple their annual increases in property taxes. Currently, the limit for increasing local property taxes is 1%; this bill would increase the limit to 3%. You can go to the following site to submit your comment to your state representatives:

I oppose raising the allowed limit on property taxes from 1% to 3% each year. Our properties are already re-evaluated each year by the county and as their value always seems to increase so is the amount of tax assessed per $1,000 of assessed value for each state, city, county, school, hospital, library, port and all the other groups who have passed bonds and tax leaves on our properties. These increases in assessed taxes and the annual 1% increases give city, county, and state officials no incentive to budget or limit spending and are increased annually as a matter of course. I strongly oppose this bill!
