Letter of Thanks: OP chamber appreciated Sheriff’s service

The Ocean Park Area Chamber of Commerce extends their thanks to Sheriff Robin Souvenir for his service. Although Sheriff Souvenir has not yet ended his term in office, we want to send our appreciation for his four years leading the Pacific County Sheriff’s Department a bit early.

The last several years have been especially difficult for those working in the field of public safety. Poorly thought out policies, attempts to reduce funding and the challenges of the pandemic have impacted law enforcement nationally. In our county, the unexpected influx of new residents, the rise of drug abuse and the significant rise of mental health related behavior that crossed into criminal actions have added burdens to a department that has been understaffed for years.

Thank you Sheriff Souvenir and family as you change course in 2023. All our best to you. And thank you, to all law enforcement officers and first responders in Pacific County for their service as they fill the dangerous roles that are essential, yet too often, underappreciated.

On behalf of the Ocean Park Area Chamber of Commerce,

BONNIE COZBY

President
