Letter: There are repercussions from lost moral compass

Pastor Joe Wright opened a new session of the Kansas House of Representatives on Jan. 23, 1996 with the following prayer:

“We know your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good, but that’s exactly what we’ve done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.

“We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of your Word and called it moral pluralism. We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem. We have abused power and called it political savvy. We have coveted our neighbors’ possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our fore-fathers and called it enlightenment.”

I myself will not cast the first stone here as personally I have indulged in some of these situations. Since then, God has cleansed my heart and turned from those ways — thankfully. How nice it would be for all to take a glimpse of our lives. This was written so long ago and here we are still… America has lost its moral compass and we are slipping into darkness. Our precious cargo, the children, are suffering now the most.

It must not be blamed on the guns only. Remember Timothy McVeigh bombed a building in Oklahoma with a daycare to make his point of anger. These mentally unstable individuals will always find a way if they aren’t stopped. Is the part of the problem the so-called “Socialistic Movement?” It seems to be trying to overtake our ways of beautiful America. It has been in progress for years now, right here in the home front. All I can say is how’s that working for you? Gas, food, undocumented immigrants, the baby formula shortage, mass shootings, burning of cities, smash and grabs, fear to whom don’t believe. I am sure I have left out many more. Along with supporting a war in Ukraine for their fight of Freedom.

OK, I say let the chips fall where they may. It is your life and afterlife. I will still ask God to please continue to bless “My America” and the people in it who love it. OK! I am ready for you. Bring it on! We know it is spiritual warfare.
