Letter: Don’t encourage camping on Long Island

In regards to the “Camping on Willapa Bay’s Long Island” article [in the 2022 edition of Our Coast magazine]. Advertising for folks to visit Long Island is 1. an irresponsible environmental advertisement. I’m not a preservationist, but if there was ever a place for it, Long Island is it. 2. this is exactly why tourism and recreation focus is bad for our county.

Why not open the floodgates for everyone to develop around the bay and destroy our beautiful natural environment and natural resource industries?!?! Think before you print stuff like this! The worst polluters in Pacific County are not from this county. We deal with all that garbage at our expense through energy and taxes. Economic gain? Maybe for some.
