Boys baseball: Naselle opens districts Monday against Oakville

- The Naselle baseball team will start their quest toward capturing the 1B District IV championship Monday in South Bend. The No.1 seed Comets (9-2) will play the No. 4 seed Oakville Acorns (0-9) at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 9 at South Bend High School.
NASELLE — The Naselle Comet baseball team will start their quest toward capturing the 1B District IV championship Monday in South Bend.
The No.1-seed Naselle Comets (9-2) will play the No. 4-seed Oakville Acorns (0-9) at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 9 at South Bend High School. The loser will be eliminated from the four-team tournament and finished for the season.
The Comet baseball team has been dominant against their 1B Columbia Valley League counterparts with a perfect 6-0 mark this season, including demolishing Oakville by a combined 32-0 in their doubleheader in late April.
The lone Naselle setbacks came in close games against Wahkiakum (5-3) and Ilwaco (2-1), while the Oakville Acorns have been winless this season.
The winner of the Naselle/Oakville game on Monday will advance to the 1B District 4 championship on Thursday, May 12, against the winner of No. 3-seed Lake Quinault and No. 2-seed Mossyrock.
