Boys baseball: Fishermen fall to Toledo in districts, face Onalaska next

SOUTH BEND — The Ilwaco Fishermen lost to the Toledo Riverhawks 9-6 on Saturday, May 7 at South Bend High School in the first round of the 12-team 2B District IV baseball tournament.

Ilwaco (14-8) will next face Onalaska (7-10) on Tuesday, May 10 at 4:30 p.m. at South Bend High School, with the loser being eliminated from the tournament.

Ilwaco rally runs shortAfter a couple defensive miscues and two Toledo home runs, the Fishermen quickly found themselves behind 7-0 by the second inning.

Ilwaco began to chip away with Jacob Rogers, Derek Cutting, Kaeden Lyster, Kaemon Sawa and Cannon Johnson each driving in runs, cutting the lead to 7-6 by the fourth inning. However, Toledo added a couple insurance runs in the fifth and sixth inning to stop the Ilwaco rally and secure the 9-6 victory.
