AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LONG BEACH, WASHINGTON AMENDING TITLE 1 OF THE LONG BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO MAYOR AND COUNCIL SALARIES.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to give the Mayor and City Council members the option to refuse compensation; and
WHEREAS, by adoption of this Ordinance, the City intends to formalize the manner in which the Mayor and Councilmembers may refuse compensation at any given time; and

WHEREAS, by adoption of this Ordinance, the City will not increase the monthly salary of the Mayor or Councilmembers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LONG BEACH, WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1-6-4 of the Long Beach Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
1-6-4: Salaries. The salary of the mayor shall be seven hundred dollars ($700) per month, and the salary of each council member shall be three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month. The Mayor and Council may refuse compensation at any time if they provide written notice to the City Treasurer. The refusal shall be in effect through December 31st of the year specified in the notice.
Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days from and after its approval, passage and publication in the manner required by law.
