CATHLAMET — Two additional covid-19 cases were confirmed Nov. 25 in Wahkiakum County, bringing the total to 22 since the start of the pandemic.

There is no known direct connection to local schools or day care at this time. The individuals have been advised to self-quarantine and people who were in immediate contact are being asked to do the same.

Local health workers are trying to identify anyone who may have an exposure risk because of contact with these individuals. Those people with close contact will be notified by Health and Human Services (WHHS) staff.

The uptick in cases is concerning, WHHS staff said. Citizens are advised to diligently follow Department of Health guidance. It is especially important to stay home if you are sick and to avoid social gatherings, particularly avoid indoor groups. Please reconsider any larger gatherings, even immediate family who don’t live under your roof, this Thanksgiving; celebrate a different way.

The current risk of covid-19 in Washington remains high. Public health is identifying thousands more positive cases of the disease in the state every day. •Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.

•Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.

•Stay at home and away from others as much as you can.

•The governor issued an order to stay home — follow it and follow all changes that are occurring.
