1,000 covid-19 deaths: May 16 Washington state coronavirus update

Washington state’s coronavirus death toll reached 1,000 in the 24 hours ending 11:59 p.m. May 15, the Department of Health reported Saturday. That was an increase of eight over the previous day.

There was an increase of 337 new laboratory-confirmed infections, bringing the state total to 18,288.

U.S. covid-19 fatalities totaled 88,754 Saturday night, Johns Hopkins University of Medicine reported.
