Obituary: Jill McCartney Lead

RAYMOND — Jill Lee McCartney Lead peacefully passed away after 73 wonderful years on Mother Earth on March 16, 2020.

Jill called Raymond home for the past 62 years and retired from the Raymond School District after 33 years of providing excellent custodial service.

She loved spending time with her family and volunteering in our community. Jill’s infectious smile and laugh were gifts to all who knew her especially with children. Her genuine kindness was felt by so many people on Willapa Harbor!

Jill was proceeded in death by her father, Alden “Mike” McCartney; mother, Alice McCartney and brother, Timmothy McCartney.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, former Raymond Mayor Leon P. Lead; daughter, Sherry Lead (granddaughter Chelsea), daughter, Tammi DeBoer (daughter-in-law Michelle, granddaughters Jada and Zoe) and son, Leon W. Lead (daughter-in-law Kim, grandsons Jason and Caspian); and her brother, Shawn McCartney (sister-in-law Sandy and nephews Travis and Ryan).

Per her request there will be no service now but a “Celebration of Life” will be held this summer. Please consider making a donation to her favorite charity, Willapa Harbor Helping Hands.
