LONGVIEW — Kolby Glenn’s dominant performance led Naselle to an 89-50 victory over Three Rivers Christian Thursday, Jan. 30. With the win over the league’s second-best team, Naselle established its Columbia Valley League supremacy.
Glenn devastated the Eagles from the baseline in the early going. He cut behind the Eagles’ 2-3 zone from corner to corner, hitting three corner threes and a three-point play in the game’s first nine minutes. Glenn also fed Chase Haataia with a lob in the game’s early minutes, on his way to a 24-point, 10-assist night. The Comets led 27-10 by the early second quarter after a 19-2 run.
The Eagles cut the lead to 32-21 on a steal-and-score by Ryan Ransom, who finished with 25 points. Corey Gregory scored on another lob pass by Glenn. Glenn followed by setting up Ethan Lindstrom, driving, kicking out to Lindstrom, and moving back to screen his defender and free him for a layup. By halftime, Naselle led 44-27.
Corey Gregory matched Glenn with 10 assists and was highly active on defense. When the Eagles broke the Comet press, he protected the rim, making several key stops on these plays, while adding a team-high five steals. Gregory also scored 18 points, 10 of them in the fourth quarter.
Jimmy Strange scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half as the Eagles had trouble stopping him off the dribble. Lindstrom finished with 23 points, including three first-half three-pointers.
Naselle improved to 12-5, 5-0 in CVL play and fourth in 1B in RPI. Three Rivers fell to 12-5, 6-1 in league play. Naselle hosts the Washington School for the Deaf Thursday at 7 p.m., then hosts a rematch with Three Rivers Christian Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. to close out the regular season.
