PE ELL — Erika Glenn scored 18 of her 31 points in the second half of Ilwaco’s 68-43 win over Pe Ell Monday, Dec. 16. Unbeaten Ilwaco held a nine-point halftime lead before pulling away from the Lady Trojans, who were 3-3 at week’s end.

“The first half was rough,” Kylie Gray said. “We weren’t expecting them to come out so strong. [Guard Annika Mason] had a torn ACL last time we played them, and…it knocked them down a peg.”

Mason finished with 11 points.

Coach Ned Bittner said the team held back on defensive pressure because opposing scouts were at the game.

“We kept it simple,” he said.

Still, despite missing 10 free throws, the team led 29-20 at halftime.

Glenn scored 11 of Ilwaco’s 17 third quarter points, helping the team expand its lead to 15. Charlie Carper kept Pe Ell within striking distance, scoring nine of the team’s 11 in the quarter.

The Pe Ell zone was forcing Ilwaco into long-range shots, but in the fourth quarter they started falling. Jaymi Kemmer, Estella Sheldon, Dominique Bittner, and Glenn each hit a three in the 22-point quarter.
