Elsa Linquist wins 1,500 at Town Youth League meet

Peninsula second grader Elsa Linquist won her running event at the Track Town Youth League’s annual meet in Warrenton on May 21.

WARRENTON — Track Town Youth League held their annual meet in Warrenton on May 21.

Children ages 7-14 came out to compete in track and field events for the chance to compete in the Track Town Youth Championship on June 29th in Eugene, Oregon.

Two Peninsula athletes made the final cut.

Second grader Elsa Linquist won her event for the second year in a row. Linquist ran the 1,500 meter race in 6:34, a new personal best.

She is looking forward to another championship appearance. Linquist placed seventh overall in 2018.

Also, 14 year-old Ayden Woodby competed in both the 100 and 400 meter dashes. He placed first in both races with respective times of 12.94 and 59.82.
