Naselle’s Lily Harman has been named MVP.

LONG BEACH — Lily Harman was 3 for 4 with a triple, Kylee Tarabochia was 3 for 5 with another triple, and Hailey Weston had a pair of hard singles to go 2 for 3 as Naselle beat Ilwaco 10-3 Friday, March 22.

For Ilwaco, Arianna Bell was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Jaymie Patana also went 2 for 3 despite being robbed of a hit by Mia Watson’s diving catch in right.

Watson’s infield single drove in Harman to put Naselle up 2-0 in the top of the first. In the Ilwaco half, Hannah Hines blooped one over the head of Peyton Dalton at short to drive in Emma Brundage. But with runners on first and third and one out, Watson caught a fly ball from Gracie Barnett. Pitcher Brynn Tarabochia then charged an Asu Herrera-Sanchez ground ball and threw her out to escape the jam with a 2-1 lead. After that, Ilwaco made few scoring threats against Tarabochia, who allowed six hits, three walks and struck out eight.

With Naselle up 4-1, Kylee Tarabochia led off the fourth with a triple to right. Brynn Tarabochia followed with a safety squeeze bunt; Kylee scored on an overthrow of first. Peyton Dalton followed with a bunt of her own and reached on an error. Harman blooped a single into shallow left to drive in a run for a 6-1 lead.

Harman, playing first base, turned a 1-3-2 double-play to end the fifth inning; Kylee Tarabochia finished the play off with a tag of Patana at home.

Kylee Tarabochia led off the seventh with a base hit up the middle, and Harman’s two-out triple brought her in. Two batters later, Hailey Weston hit a two-run single to make it 10-2, giving her a 2 for 3 day.

Meanwhile, Brynn Tarabochia, sinking her pitches below Ilwaco bats and occasionally mixing in a high fastball, was keeping the Fishermen at bay.

However, Arianna Bell, who pinch-hit in the fifth, hit the ball hard all three times up in the final innings. She lined the ball right at Kenzie Glenn in shallow center in her first at bat, then led off the seventh with a bloop single. After advancing to third on a wild pitch and stolen base, she drew a throw to third and scored at home on an error on the throw, for Ilwaco’s final run.
