TENINO — Ethan Personius scored the first two goals in team history in the inaugural game for Ilwaco’s boys soccer team, a 3-2 road loss to Tenino.

Coach Andrew Goodwin said Tenino significantly outplayed Ilwaco in the first half. “It was real rough out there at first,” he said.

But as is often the case in soccer, the score was nevertheless close, with Tenino leading 1-0 at the break. In the second half, Ilwaco was much more competitive.

“We came out in the second half and were able to hold them off.” Goodwin said. “Ethan hit some shots, Anderson Stoddard made some stops on defense, and John Glenn made some good plays.”

Personius scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at one. Late in the game, with Ilwaco down 3-1, he kicked one in off a defender to bring Ilwaco within a goal.
