ABERDEEN — The second of three regular season ESD 113 Knowledge Bowls was held on Friday, Dec. 7, at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen.
Seven teams from Naselle-Grays River High School competed against each other as well as 40 other teams from Montesano, Elma, Hoquiam, North Beach, Wishkah, North River, Ocosta, Raymond, South Bend and Willapa Valley.
After one written round and four oral rounds of questions, the Naselle Anarchists found themselves in seventh place overall (only four points out of fourth place) and in first place among the 14 teams from 1B schools. The Naselle Anarchists team is comprised of Lindsay Hunt, Travis Popkin, Zanith Wulf and Emma Zimmerman.
The Naselle Teletubbies finished the day in 12th place overall and second among 1B teams. Teletubbies is a quartet of Parker Dalton, Monte Schell, Sophie Scrabeck and Aaron Todd.
Teletubbies finished in first place among 1B schools at the earlier Knowledge Bowl while the Anarchists earned second. As a result, each of these two teams now has a first and second place finish.
Since Naselle-Grays River Valley’s top-performing team will earn the right to compete in the Regional Knowledge Bowl, it is expected these two teams will do their best to bring their A-games to the third and final regular season meet on Jan. 11.
