A family of swans were observed at Island Lake on Nov. 11. Island Lake is one of the Peninsula's narrow interdunal lakes, stretching from about 160th to 185th, east of the larger Loomis Lake. It is accessed via Birch Lane. The interior lakes and wetlands of the Peninsula are prime habitat for trumpeter and tundra swans.
