Notice of Election Notice Two positions on the Pacific Conservation District

Notice of Election Notice is Hereby given that two positions on the Pacific Conservation District board of Supervisors, one appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission and one elected by the public with Pacific Conservation District, are to be filled this year. THE ELECTION of the Pacific Conservation District will be held at the Pacific Conservation District office, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on March 1st, 2017 at 904 W Robert Bush Drive, South Bend, Washington. For interested voters: To be an eligible voter, you must be a registered voter in Pacific County who resides within the conservation district jurisdiction of the County. District jurisdiction corresponds with County boundaries, excluding the areas inside the city limits of Raymond, South Bend, and Ilwaco. Absentee ballots are available upon request for eligible voters, but must be requested on or before 4:00 p.m. on February 8th, 2017. For interested candidates: Legally, an elected conservation district supervisor must be a registered voter in the county where the district is located and must reside within the district boundaries. Two of the three elected supervisors must be a landowner or farm operator. Beyond this, anyone with an interest in natural resources or the operation of the public organization may volunteer to be elected as a district supervisor. Candidates filing date is February 1st, 2017. Application and supporting materials for the elected position can be given at the Pacific Conservation District Office. The Pacific Conservation District also has available a board position for appointment by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Conservation district board supervisors are public officials who serve without compensation and set policy and direction for the conservation district. An applicant must be a registered voter in Washington State, and may be required to own land or operate a farm. Applicants for appointed positions do not have to live within the district to apply.
