Barn swallows fly up and down Tarlatt Slough catching insects on the wing for their waiting babies.

Tarlatt Slough attracts many different species of shorebirds as well as waterfowl, sparrows, swallows and Red-winged Blackbirds during spring and fall migration. The attraction is protection from the elements, food and a place to rest.

Now is a good time to walk the South Bay Trail to the photo blind to catch the last glimpse of our spring nesters and to witness the birds of fall migration.

Tarlatt Slough is never disappoints.

To get to Tarlett Slough, travel on Sandridge Road to 95th Street (just south of the Public Utility District building) and drive about one-quarter mile east. Be careful not to block driveways when parking. The trail starts to the right after the straightaway on 95th Street.
