Black bear mothers and cubs have are emerging from their mid-winter den time in Ilwaco, perhaps nudged by warm weather. There isn't much to eat yet, so they'll be looking for garbage, bird food and other human-provided calories. Keep your trash secured and take in bird feeders at night to avoid bear-human conflicts. These interactions too often end up with bears being killed.
