Redmen Hall in Skamokawa begins Sunday concert series

SKAMOKAWA — As the first of a series of Sunday concerts to be put on by Redmen Hall in Skamokawa, the Vintage Gypsies will perform later this month.

They are three well-known bluegrass and country blues musicians. Pete Davis has played in the Pacific Northwest for many years, well known for his traditional country bluegrass style and is a founding member of the Darrington Bluegrass Association. Beth Semar Sheets has been a veteran of the St. Louis scene for years playing old-style country and 60s and 70s folk rock. Dave McKenzie has played country rock from Missouri to Tokyo and has five solo albums to his credit. They recently came together as the Vintage Gypsies and have created an enthusiastic following.
Their concert will be Feb. 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be at the Skamokawa Store Conference Room. It is just across the street from Redmen Hall with ample parking and handicap accessibility. Tickets are $10 at the door, $5 for children 12 and under.
Redmen Hall will be opening March 5 with its famous Antique Sale, and they will be having concerts at the hall on the second Sundays throughout the year. If you have questions call 795-8675. Skamokawa is in Wahkiakum County on State Route 4 between Naselle and Longview. It’s a beautiful little river town and well worth a visit.
