Skunk spray is highly alkaline and can be at least partly neutralized by mildly acidic liquids like diluted vinegar or tomato juice. But Russell Link suggests simply burning clothes that have been sprayed, as youll never completely get it out.

A striped skunk can fire five to eight times before it has to reload, which takes a about a week.

Skunks are essentially full grown at three months and are emancipated by their moms to live on their own.

Rabid skunks have not been identified in Washington state. (Bats are the primary animals that carry rabies in the Pacific Northwest, with about 1 percent of all wild bats infected. A rabid bat was identified in Tillamook County, Ore., in August.)
