Annual English Tea and Plant Sale offers a royal experience

CATHLAMET, Wash. St. James Family Center in Cathlamet, Wash., will be hosting its fifth annual English Tea Saturday, April 20, with a royal theme, marking the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, which took place June 3, 1953.

Traditional recipes will be featured, each with a royal connection, served on fine china and linen with fresh flowers. While the family center cant guarantee that the Queen will attend, it can assure the public that the food and atmosphere will be authentic.
Tickets are $12. Seatings will take place at noon and 2 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended and may be made by calling 360-795-8612.
There will also be a silent auction featuring donated items including a handmade real vintage fur teddy bear created by local artist Pat Talbott, along with several tea baskets, collectibles and a tea service by local potter Ruthie Doumit.

A spring plant sale will be held at the same time with a wide array of indoor and outdoor plants just in time for spring planting. A master gardener will be available to answer questions. All proceeds from the Tea and Plant Sale will go to St. James Family Center.
A 10-food Devlin row boat by Welcome Slough Boatworks will be on display. It will be raffled off as a fundraiser for the family center and the Wahkiakum Historical Society.
