This is the third year the inn has celebrated the famed author with a traditional English tea. Period clothing is encouraged but not required. Astoria pianist Jennifer Goodenberger will play the grand piano, “Gloria,” with a planned repertoire of period pieces for this themed event. Marty Lemke, of Ocean Park, Wash., a member of the international Jane Austen Society, will present a brief talk about the life and times and writings of Jane Austen.
Reservations are required and seating is limited to about 45 people. The cost of the tea is $25 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For the menu selections, visit www.theshelburneinn.com. One of the usual menu items is a traditional English “sticky toffee pudding,” which innkeeper Laurie Anderson reports “is very delicious.”
The Shelburne Inn is located at 4415 Pacific Way and can be reached at 360-642-2442.
