Eaton named all-league offense, defense

NASELLE Dustin Eaton was named by the coaches of the Pacific 2B League as an all-league selection on offense as quarterback and on defense as outside linebacker. Joining Eaton from Naselle on offense was tackle Levi Wasmundt and wide receivers Brenden Greenfield and Chandler Chapman for Comets coach Jeff Eaton.
Chapman was an all-league selection as defensive back. Wasmundt and Chapman were also named to the all-academic league team by earning grade points above 3.70.
Honorable mention for the Comets went to lineman Calvin Zimmerman, offensive and defensive halfback Sam Scrabeck, offensive linemen Jake Condon and Dakota Phillips, and center and linebacker Skyler York. Rob Clements of Raymond was coach of the year and South Bend received the sportsmanship award.

The Comets volleyball team coached by Kim Eaton was awarded the sportsmanship trophy. Naselle seniors Vicki Corona, Jordan Smith and Shae Trost and junior Kayti Nelson were given honorable mention by the coaches of the league. Smith was also on the all-academic team with a grade point of 3.87.

ILWACO Fishermen senior lineman Cody Wright and junior running back and linebacker Tom Odneal received honorable mention for the 2012 Trico 1A League football all-star team. On the all-academic team with grade point averages of at least 3.2 (B+) from Ilwaco were Eric McMillan, Keishi Thompson, Marcus Cox, Hunter Stockfleth and Wright.
John Lambert of La Center was tabbed as coach of the year and Cy Whitmire from Woodland and Mack Gaul of Toledo were the co-MVPs of the league. The coaches voted on first and second team selections and also honorable mention recipients. Jared Huddleston of La Center was the offensive player of the year and Cody Meier of Toledo was the defensive player of the year.
Senior outside hitter Megan Clark was named to the Trico 1A North Division second volleyball team and setter Amanda Bell of the Fishermen earned honorable mention.
Undefeated Castle Rock dominated the awards as Maddi Seidl was tapped as league MVP, unseating teammate Macee Utecht, who had been MVP the past three years. Utecht and Tierney Uhlenkott were named to the first team along with Jamie Boatman and Kallie Schmit of Kalama, Alyssa Carnes of La Center, Nicolette Nesbitt of Woodland and McKenzie Davis and Erin Sprowls of Kings Way. Castle Rock coach Jeana Bays was coach of the year.
On the Trico League football first team were Connor Fulton, A.J. Myers, Gabe Bunker, Dylan King, Tyrone Kulla, Jacob Mendez, Josh McNeal, Andre Obot and Jerimiah Arn of La Center. Castle Rock had Austin Moore, Easton Stoner, Mikel Skreen, Nate Williamson and Levi Godihno on the team.
Kyle Hendrix and Zach Lacey from Woodland were on the first team and Will Sauter and Gabe Guzman made the all-star team from White Salmon. Coty Jasper and Danny Aguliar from Toledo were voted to the first team, as was Zach Irwin from Stevenson. Erik Powell of Seton Catholic rounded out the Trico all-league football squad.
Evan Sutherland received honorable mention for the Trico 1A boys cross country all-league team. MVP was Brad Rich of White Salmon and Corey Rich made the first team. La Centers Kyle DeGraff, Jordan Bigler and Jason Dorsey made the first team, as did Toledos Mikhail Hopf and Blake Wood. Woodlands Matt Young, Kalamas Brett Osterlund, and Kings Ways Carter Coval round out the cross country all-league line-up.
For the girls Katelynn Horn from Kalama was the MVP.
