Local musical groups issue call for members

ASTORIA – North Coast Symphonic Band rehearsals have started but the band still needs clarinetists, an oboist and percussionists. Potential musicians should own their own instruments and be able to read music at the advanced high school level. CANNON BEACH – The Cannon Beach Chorus, under the direction of John Buehler, invites singers age 16 and older to join the nonaudition community chorus as rehearsals begin for the fall performance season. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Community Presbyterian Church at 132 E. Washington St. The chorus will prepare Handel’s “Messiah, Part I” and traditional Christmas carols for concerts Dec. 14 and 16. For more information, visit www.cannonbeachchorus.org
