Fishermen represented well on all-league teams

ILWACO The Ilwaco Fishermen football team was well represented on the Trico All-League teams, released Tuesday.

Senior Josh Berteaux was named first team defense at DB, and second team offense at RB. Joining him on first team was Edgar Galvan, picked as the best punter in the league.

Receiving honorable mention were senior TE Kasey Plato, senior OL Elliot Marcus, senior RB Justice Schenk and junior OL Cody Wright.

The team also placed several players on the league all-academic team. Brandon Malmstadt led the way on the first team with a 4.0 GPA, followed by Matt Wood with a 3.7. Receiving honorable mention for academics are Elliot Marcus, 3.45; Marcus Cox, 3.28; Justice Schenk, 3.26; and Cody Wright, 3.02.

Kalamas Jake Clizbe was named MVP and their QB Austin Johnson was named offensive player of the year. Jesse Wallace of Toledo was named defensive player of the year and La Centers John Lambert was named coach of the year.

 

CORRECTION

In last weeks paper the Ilwaco Middle School football team was referred to as the Wildcats. They are in fact the Fishermen. Naselle Junior High are called the Wildcats.
