Green, Comets girls seventh at Montesano meet

MONTESANO The Comets girls team was seventh and Katie Green claimed seventh place among 68 runners at a 10-school cross country meet in Montesano Sept. 27. Greens time was 22:02 and Cramer Smith paced the boys by finishing 11th among 109 runners in 18:28.
Keith Reitz was 92nd in 25:35 for Naselle. Rounding out the girls team were Olivia Zimmerman, who was 25th in 23:54, Katelyn Magie 32nd in 25:06, Savannah Zimmerman 55th in 30:11, and Alexa York in 67th in 37:21. Aberdeen edged Montesano for the boys team title 25 to 38.

Fishermen team sixth at Kalama, Pacheco fifth for girls
KALAMA The Fishermen cross country team placed sixth at an 11-school meet at Rainbow Park in Kalama Sept. 27 and Cindy Pacheco was the top Ilwaco finisher for the girls, earning fifth place among 33 runners. Her time was 23:19. Jasmine Coffin was ninth in 24:41, Merissa Cass was 15th and Bailey Gray came in 23rd for the Lady Fishermen.
For the Ilwaco boys Corbin Sutherland placed ninth in 19:02, Evan Sutherland was 20th in 20:09, and Ben Ahlin placed 22nd among 86 runners in 20:14. Cody Schmidt finished 34th in 21:23, and Eli Schenk rounded out scoring for the Fishermen by coming in 49th in 22:18. Kevin Johnson and Kevin St. Clair also competed for Ilwaco.
The Kalama course was a good challenge for our runners. There was a small water pit and a very large hill in the race. Everyone continues to improve as we head into the last half of the season, coach Sarah Taylor said.
La Center girls were first and Onalaska was second and all other teams ran incomplete.
