Elizabeth Schmidt

WILSONVILLE Elizabeth Betty Campbell (Rennie) Schmidt, 91, died July 19, 2011, at her residence in Wilsonville, Ore. The daughter of Howard and Florence (Tossie) Campbell, she was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Seattle.
She graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, and attended the University of Washington, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated from Armstrong College in California with a Bachelor of Arts in merchandising and journalism.
She and Robert Bob Rennie married in 1943 and had two sons, Keith in 1947 and Brian in 1951. When Bob passed away in 1957, she and the two boys moved to her parents home in Seaview. In 1966, she married Aubrey Schmidt, a high school classmate. They lived in Klipsan and Ocean Park for more than 40 years. They also enjoyed residences in Charbonneau, Ore., Sun City, Ariz., and Palm Desert, Calif.
Mrs. Schmidt was a dedicated and ardent gardener. She and her husband did extensive world traveling and enjoyed entertaining family and friends she was described as being the nearly perfect hostess. She was a 50-plus year member of the Mentor Club, and she and Aubrey were members of the Astoria Country Club.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Keith and Mina Rennie of Forest Grove, Ore., and Brian and Becky Rennie of Olympia; a stepson and his wife, Paul and Susan Schmidt of Portland; an adopted daughter (her niece) Kim (Polak) Darby; five grandchildren, Heather Cline, Glen Rennie, Stephen Rennie, Beth (Rennie) Sharpes and Andrew Rennie; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Parker, Silas and Burton. Her parents, her two husbands, her sister Marylyne, and her brother, Ron, preceded her in death.
