PORTLAND Peter George Lopetich, 80, of Long Beach, adored husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 18, 2011, in Portland.
He was born the third of six children to George and Rosa Lopetich on March 22, 1931, in the small village of Kraljevo, Serbia, in the former Yugoslavia. He immigrated to the United States in 1961 and was a longtime resident of Seattle. He retired and moved with his wife to Long Beach in 2002.
His most fulfilling interests included golf, working on various home projects, playing cards and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Dotty Lopetich; his two daughters, Anne (Martin) Floe of Lynnwood and Barbara (Toby) Gabriel of Bothell; grandchildren, Skyler and McKayla Floe, and Ben and Carter Gabriel; and in Serbia by his youngest sister, Daraslav, and many members of his extended family. Mr. Lopetich lived a life full of worldly experiences. He touched the lives of many people and was loved by all who knew him.
A funeral service honoring his life and in the tradition of his Serbian heritage and Orthodox faith was held at Penttilas Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach on July 23. Graveside rites of Orthodox burial followed at Lone Fir Cemetery.
