ILWACO Mike Anderson, of Ilwaco, and Sara Strawn, of Pocatello, Idaho, were wed recently in a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Marsing, Idaho. The couple said their vows, surrounded by family and friends, in front of a rose arbor at the Fox Canyon Vineyards overlooking the Snake River.
Mike, the son of Don and Sue Anderson of Ilwaco, is an Ilwaco High School graduate and standout athlete. He consistently placed at the high school state championship meets in track and cross-country, going on to run at Eastern Oregon University, where he became a cross country All-American. He continues to race and in June won the Newport (Oregon) Marathon with a time of 2:29.39.
Sara, the daughter of Patti Allred and the late James Strawn, was given away in marriage by her brother, Paul Hartman. Saras sister, Emily Fuhriman, was the matron of honor, and her bridesmaids, Angie Durham and Stephanie Hudson, are college roommates and longtime friends. Saras nieces and nephew, Mya, Aliya, and Alonzo Hartman, were the flower girls and usher.
Mike was attended by his best man and College of Idaho head coach Pat McCurry, college teammate Leonard Ulrich, and cousin Bill Didion of South Bend. Owen Clarke, the grooms nephew and son of Justin and Heidi Clarke of Ilwaco, served as ring bearer, while Adam Taylor, the grooms nephew and son of Leonard and Sarah Taylor of Long Beach, was an usher.
The couple is honeymooning in Glacier Park, Mont., before returning to Caldwell, Idaho, where they make their home. Mike is employed by the College of Idaho as assistant cross country and track and field coach. Sara, a Boise State University graduate, works in the office of the Meridian Hampton Inn.
