LONG BEACH A complete makeover has been a welcoming surprise to hotel guests this summer as Brady and Tiffany Turner transformed a local lodging establishment into Adrift Hotel & Spa.

Formerly the Edgewater Inn, the 80-room hotel has been completely remodeled since changing hands in March, boasting new flooring, fresh paint, refinished wood and various other upgrades to make the facility more sustainable. And Tiffany says the guests that had booked a room with the Edgewater months back are pleased with the changes that have taken place since their last stay there.

The Turners also own the 12-room Inn at Discovery Coast, and they feel that Adrift will attract new, urban clientele to the Peninsula, as their hotel caters to a market niche that the Peninsula didnt have before.

Offering king, queen, double and bunk beds, each room has organic toiletries, an iPod docking station and an American made flat screen TV.

Much of the décor reflects Peninsula character, with a local photographers black and white photos in each room, and salvaged wooden cranberry boxes made into end tables, shelving and coffee tables. The Turners also used local talent and businesses for their graphic and interior design, plumbing and more aspects of the remodel.

Now with a more exposed and modern look, the new lobby location has ample seating for guests after they help themselves to a cup of organic coffee.

Pet and family friendly, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and complimentary bicycles to use about town. The common areas near the elevator have beanbag chairs, shuffleboard and foosball tables, a library area and other amenities.

The couple is leasing the east building to Charlotte Wanke of Body Essence Massage, which is a convenient perk for hotel guests. Karl Hintz ocean view Long Beach Lightship restaurant still occupies the top floor of the hotel.

A grand opening event will be announced at a later date.
