On June 30, an explosive device was found on the state beach, near the county line in Grayland. It turned out to be a C2A1 Marine Location Marker. While not designed as an explosive it does have the potential to explode or ignite if mishandled. The device contains white phosphorous and is used in search and rescue and other military exercises. It is designed to self scuttle however they have been known to reignite when removed from the water. These units have at times washed up on the beach and passersby are cautioned not to pick them up but to call 911. The WSP Bomb Squad responded to this incident to assist the Pacific County Sheriffs Office. In addition to WSP, assistance was obtained from the Grays Harbor Sheriffs Office and the State Parks Department.

On July 5 at about       12:39 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a naked, intoxicated male running around on the beach in the Seaview area of Pacific County. Long Beach officers also responded and made contact with Christopher G. Britt, age 22.  Responding officers report that Britt did appear to be intoxicated.  A witness indicated Britt had been naked and uncooperative. The witness had loaded him into a vehicle and call 911. Britt, who listed a Kelso address, was arrested for indecent exposure and transported to Pacific County Jail.

On July 9, a deputy patrolling in the Surfside area recognized a subject and knew there were outstanding misdemeanor warrants for him. The deputy confirmed the warrant, made contact with the subject, placing him under arrest. During a search pursuant to his arrest the deputy located a baggy containing a green vegetative matter that appeared to be marijuana. The marijuana was field tested having a positive response for marijuana. The subject was identified as Shane Persinger, 23 years of age.
