ASTORIA Get ready to boogie your blues away, as the Astoria Event Center hosts two of the regions hottest blues bands on Saturday, July 16, starting at 8 p.m. From Portland, Ore., with three critically acclaimed CDs under their belt, Boogie Bone is coming to Astoria for a double header with North Coast Blues and guests John Arevalo, Jim Rafferty and special guest Kolvane.
Boogie Bone is a powerful, straight-ahead, roadhouse style boogie band featuring original blues/rock tunes written by vocalist Howlin Jake Johnson and guitarist Steven Dee Williams, and backed by Henry Gavaldon on bass, Todd Stevens on drums, and Steve Snyder on harmonica, sax, flute and keyboards.
North Coast Blues combines Richard Thomasian and Dan Golden, from the Swing Cats, and drummer Clint Carter, from the Buoy 10 band, and usually features guest performers in their shows, such as Portlands Angel Bouchet and the guitar wizardry of John Arevalo. For the July 16 show, Arevalo will again join North Coast Blues along with Jim Rafferty and blues rocker Kolvane.
The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Astoria Event Center, 894 Commercial Street. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. Visit www.boogieboneband.com or email buoy10band@yahoo.com for more information.
