LONG BEACH On July 1, Josh and Kristin Buehler opened Coastal Inn and Suites just in time for one the Peninsulas most busy weekends.

Though the Buehlers were married only six weeks ago, theyre very excited to embark on their new business venture as they start a new life together.

The couple has been visiting the Peninsula since they were knee-high to a grasshopper. Josh has fond childhood memories of digging clams here with his grandparents and remembers when the hotel was still operating as The Whales Tail. He had wanted to own a hotel for many years, and was very excited when he found out that the building was for sale.

Kristin has worked in massage therapy for almost nine years, owning her own business in the Vancouver area. The Coastal Inn has 11 rooms and five retail shop spaces, which will be able to accommodate both Kristins massage business and Joshs dream of a hotel.

In addition to the typical room accommodations, Coastal Inn offers cable TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a library for guests to find books, DVDs and games. The Buehlers also use biodegradable cleaning products, and participate in recycling and composting programs.

A grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, July 16. The owners say over half the rooms and suites will be open and ready for business this summer, with more being remodeled this fall.

Located at 620 Pacific Avenue South in Long Beach, Coastal Inn and Suites can be reached at 642-3049. Their website is www.thecoastalinn.com.
