ILWACO Ocean Beach Hospital, in collaboration with the Olympic Area Agency on Aging, continues their free workshop open to the public, Living Well With Chronic Conditions, on Thursdays, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Ocean Beach Hospital Meeting Room, 174 1st Avenue N., Ilwaco. This program is designed to help individuals who suffer from a chronic condition, including diabetes, asthma, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis, and hypertension and more to lessen their stress and frustration, manage symptoms and deal with fatigue. Marine Resources Committee
LONG BEACH The citizen-based Pacific County Marine Resource Committee meets the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 14 at the Ocean Beach School District office on Washington Street. This committee works to understand, steward, and restore the marine and estuarine ecological processes of the Washington coast in support of ecosystem health, sustainable marine resource-based livelihoods, cultural integrity and coastal communities. ILWACO Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco and the Appelo Archive Center in Naselle are two of more than 1,300 museums across America to offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer until Labor Day. The Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays are admission free thanks to support from the Port of Ilwaco. Art Night at the Marina
ILWACO Come to the Port of Ilwaco on Saturday, July 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., for an art night at the marina. Make an evening of it, stroll the waterfront, have a bite, some refreshments and some fun. More than 15 Ilwaco businesses open their doors and welcome friends, neighbors and visitors and the evening features two raffles with free gifts from participating shops and restaurants.
Camp Kiwanilong
WARRENTON Camp Kiwanilong is celebrating 75 years of existence, and is holding a dinner, silent auction and more to raise money to make some needed repairs. On July 16, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., enjoy wine, a walk and a tour of the facility; from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., you can enjoy an Italian dinner for a suggested donation of $15. Weavers and spinners
SKAMOKAWA Opening July 16 at noon, Redmen Hall will feature an exhibit of work by the Clatsop Weavers and Spinners Guild. There will be a reception with demonstrations by both the weavers and the spinners from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. that afternoon. This is a talented group of artists from Astoria and the Long Beach Peninsula. Their focus this year is an interesting one using recycled materials in spinning and weaving hence the title Fiber Arts Go Green. They are presenting and selling work done using recycled material and their regular hand spun and hand woven items. The exhibit runs until Aug. 28. Redmen Hall is located in Skamokawa on SR4 (Ocean Beach Highway) and is open from noon to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. For more information you can call 360-795-3007 during business hours.
Clamshell Railroad days
ILWACO Clamshell Railroad Days are Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco and includes lectures, bus tours, a kids craft corner and more. Among the displays will be Portland Cascade Z-scale, Mount Rainier N-scale, the Lego train and numerous others. Museum entrance and a souvenir pin for two days is $5, kids under 12 are free. New this year, the event will be free for CPHM members. More extensive exhibits will be on view at the Long Beach Grange and the Long Beach Depot. Call 642-3446 for information.
Moose Cruise In
OCAN PARK The Peninsula Moose Lodge No. 2362 will hold its annual Cruise-In on July 16 at the lodge. Registration is $15 per car and will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. Hot rods, restored classic cars, antique cars and motorcycles are welcome to compete for prizes and trophies. The show will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with judging starting at 2:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Pacific County Drug Enforcement Division, the Boys and Girls Club of the Long Beach Peninsula and the Pacific County Humane Society. There will be raffles and door prizes throughout the day. An old-fashioned barbeque will be available from noon to 4 p.m., for a fee. Plus from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., come enjoy the live band. PENINSULA There will be a summer lunch program available for all youth up to age 18 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at six sites around our community, from July 19 through Sept. 2. They are as follows: from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Skating Lake Park in Surfside, from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Ocean Park Elementary, from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Culbertson Park in Long Beach, from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Peninsula Church Center in Seaview, from noon to 12:30 p.m. at the Ilwaco Library and from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Chinook Lutheran Church. OCEAN PARK All men are welcome to join our own Band of Brothers known as the Do Nothing Club held every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ocean Park Lutheran Church at 240th and U Street. This group is a mixture of men from all walks of life including: electricians, plumbers, glazers, laborers, the aircraft industry, law enforcement, teachers, cooks, deep sea divers, the farm chemical industry and more. This is a non-denominational club that meets to play cribbage, shoot pool or just sit around having fun and solving the worlds problems. Attendees take turns providing lunches for the group. LONG BEACH Everyone is encouraged to come enjoy the 27th year of SandSations Sand Sculpture Contest set for July 20 through July 24 in front of the boardwalk in Long Beach. There will be free sculpting lessons on Friday, followed by a beach bonfire Friday night. From novice, to amateurs to professional, anyone can participate in the contest on Saturday, where contestants have five hours to build their masterpiece. While the sculpting is underway there will be a Sand Flea Pet Parade on the beach. Prizes and notoriety are guaranteed in all areas.

Summer Art Festival
ILWACO Peninsula Arts Associations 4th Annual Summer Art Festival, set for July 22 through 24, has moved to the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum at 115 Lake Street in Ilwaco. Hours are Friday from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. The new venue provides opportunity for the 20-plus artists to spread out and really show off their handcrafted work in the very best way possible. Jewelry, paintings, paper crafts, wind chimes, wood carvings, silver work, glass, clay, yard art, photography, art cards and hand spun warm and fuzzies are just some of the treasures to be found at this growing festival. LONG BEACH Peninsula Saddle Club and Brims Farm and Garden are sponsoring the 66th Long Beach Rodeo on July 30 and July 31 at the rodeo grounds located at 6407 Sandridge Road. Each day starts with a cowboy breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the cowboy action starting at 1 p.m. There will be fun events for all ages, including a rodeo parade through downtown Long Beach at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 29.
