KLIPSAN BEACH During the early morning hours of Saturday, July 2 at 12:38 a.m., Washington State Patrol Trooper Jesse Greene attempted to stop a 2004 Lexus four-door along Highway 103 near Pacific Avenue. The reason for the stop was the driver failing to signal twice and driving negligently as it burned out at a stop sign.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued through Long Beach and onto Highway 103 near Bolstad beach approach. From there, it went northbound on Highway 103 to 198th Street for approximately eight miles. As the vehicle began to pick up speed, estimated at approximately 130 miles per hour, troopers terminated the chase to eliminate a potential hazard to other vehicles on the road. Fortunately traffic was light at that time of night.

As troopers approached 198th Street, they located the vehicle which had lost control and spun out and both driver and passenger had fled on foot. The passenger of the vehicle, Jordan K. Fink, 24 years old from Kennewick, was located a short time later as he sought help at a nearby residence. He was treated by aid at the scene for an injured ankle caused as he jumped over fences to get away.

WSP troopers later obtained information leading them to the driver, Henry L. Campuzano, 40 years old of Vancouver. He was arrested early Wednesday morning July 6 at his place of employment in Long Beach. Campuzano was booked into Pacific County Jail for felony eluding, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and obstructing.
