VENICE, FLA. Joy R. Jim Gobles, 78, died June 11, 2011, in Venice, Fla. The son of Perry and Sally Martin, he was born April 11, 1933, in Kingsland, Texas. 

He made the U.S. Air Force his career, retiring after 22 years, and then became the manager of the recreational department at McChord Air Force Base.

On Aug. 4, 1956, he married Margaret Gobles they had been married 55 years at the time of his death. The couple resided on the Peninsula for 15 years, having moved to Florida in 2008.

He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and gold mining and was a wonderful and loving father and husband.

Survivors include his son, Clifford Gobles of Sun Valley, Idaho; a daughter, Trudy Neill of Federal Way; one brother, J.H. Gobles of Piedmont, Ala.; grandchildren, Kazmyre Bye of Tacoma, Troy Neill and Amanda Neill of Federal Way.

A memorial service was held at West Coast Assemblies of God Church in Englewood, Fla.
