Fishermen fly to first in Trico track at Montesano

MONTESANO – The Fishermen boys won a three-team track meet at Montesano Thursday, April 21 by edging the home team 90-82.5 and the Lady Fishermen were third, but Leticia Cervantes edged Kenzi Wirkkala in an outstanding javelin duel 114-feet to 112-feel-11.

Brandon Malmstadt led Ilwaco with first place finishes in the 100 (11.90) and 400 meter dashes (52.49) and he was also on the 4×100 and 4×400 Fishermen relay teams that won blue. Kyle Breckinridge took a pair of first place ribbons in the shot put (41-feet-6) and the javelin with a mighty toss of 165-feet-7. Owen Sutherland won the 1,600 in 4:50.96 and Josh Berteaux was exceptional in winning the pole vault by clearing 11-feet-10.

Ilwaco’s 4×100 team of Justice and Josh Schenk, Berteaux and Malmstadt won in 46.34 and the 4×100 team of the Schenks, Malmstadt, and Taylor Odneal was first in 3:45. Raven Rogers won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.25 and Tawnie Nesbitt was first in the pole vault, clearing 6-feet.
