- OP youngsters send valentines to troops
OCEAN PARK Amy Currys class from Ocean Park Elementary made valentines for soldiers. The kindergarten/first grade blended class has been in communication with troops in Afghanistan and in Everett this year. They have sent thank you cards for Veterans Day, Thanksgiving cards, Christmas cards and have just mailed their Valentines Day cards.
The class has a couple of military pen pals that they are communicating with. Sgt. Matthew Wagner is in the Army stationed in Afghanistan and his wife, Petty Officer Angela Wagner, is in the Coast Guard stationed in Everett.
Petty Officer Angela is the sister of one of our military pen pals we have written to in the past, Curry said. We hope to someday be able to have our military pen pals visit our class and share some of their positive experiences with us. We appreciate all that our military does for our country and try to connect our students with the world around them.
