- China Beach named one of Sunset's most enchanting seaside getaways
ILWACO – Sunset editors released the free Sunset Travel Guide, The Best Coastal Vacation Spots in the West 2010. In this resourceful new guide, Sunset gives the true local’s take on the region’s most enchanting seaside getaways with information on the best lodging, dining, attractions and activities.
China Beach Retreat was included among the 20 properties featured in the article that appeared in the September issue of Sunset magazine, and one of only two in Washington state. The article notes that, “Big views of Baker Bay’s serene tidelands tempt guests to hunker down at the Craftsman China Beach Retreat.”
China Beach Retreat and Shelburne Inn, Restaurant and Pub Owners David Campiche and Laurie Anderson are thrilled to have their bed and breakfast and the stand-alone Audubon Cottage mentioned so favorably in such a prominent publication.
“With thousands of miles of bring-you-to-your-knees-gorgeous shoreline, the coast is one of the West’s greatest assets,” said Katie Tamony, Sunset editor-in-chief. “The West Coast plays host to diverse natural wonders: ancient redwoods, imposing sand dunes, rugged cliffs, tidepools and reefs teeming with native sea life, multihued beaches, perfect waves … the list goes on. But it’s not just the outdoors that makes a coastal vacation in the West an absolute must. Lovely waterfront towns with amazing seafood, local art, and romantic lodging make you want to return to the coast again and again to discover your newest favorite place.”
