PENINSULA – As the sun came up Saturday for the longest day of the year and the official first day of summer, it also came up on the unofficial first day of the Peninsula festival season.

Saturday saw the the beach invaded by dog lovers for the third annual Doggie Olympic Games, while those looking for delicious treats need not look further than Ocean Park for the annual Garlic Festival. Even the weather played along, as sun and blue skies greeted those who took part.
